Place of birth: V.P. was born. Rybalko in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region.

Education (city, school, faculty). Zootechnical Faculty of the Kalinin Turkmen Agricultural Institute (Ashgabat).

Where he worked.From 1961 to 1964, he worked as a zootechnician-breeder of the State Farm named after 25 of October, a senior zootechnician at the Micheiv Agricultural Technical School, and then as a chief zootechnician of the Pervomaysky District Department of Agriculture, Mykolaiv Oblast.

Current place of work, position. All subsequent research and production activities of V.P. Rybalko Here, after completing his postgraduate studies, he was left to work as a senior researcher in the Department of Breeding and Genetics. From 1970 to 1988, he held the position of deputy director for scientific work, from 1988 to 2007 - director of the Institute, at that time the only scientific research center for pig breeding in the USSR, and from 2007 - the chief researcher of the breeding laboratory.

Postgraduate studies (doctoral studies). From 1964 to 1967, a postgraduate student of the Poltava Research Institute of Pig Breeding, majoring in "Breeding of agricultural animals".

Dissertation topic. In 1967, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic: "The large black breed of pigs in Ukraine and its use in purebred breeding and crossbreeding".

In 1984, V.P. Rybalko defended his doctoral thesis on the topic: "Increasing pig productivity through the rational use of genetic and paratypic factors."

Main developments of the publication. Further research work of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor V.P. Rybalko focused on the improvement of large red and large white breeds, development of theoretical and applied aspects of crossing and hybridization in pig breeding, creation of new genotypes on an intrabreed and interbreed basis. He is one of the authors of important breeding achievements: the maternal type in the large white breed (UVB-1), the Poltava factory type (PM-1), the Poltava meat specialized line (ChPSL), the red and white belt breed of meat pigs (ChBP). Under the methodical guidance and with the direct participation of
V.P. Rybalko has developed more than 40 methods and methodical recommendations in the field of pig breeding. Professor V.P. Rybalko has 22 author's certificates and patents for special developments. He has published about 700 scientific papers

Scientific school. 35 doctors and candidates of sciences have been trained.

Awards and honors. In 1993 - Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, elected full member (academician) of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences; 2003 – foreign member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. For research in animal breeding, he was awarded the title of Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology twice (in 1984 and 1999).

Received more than 2 dozen Certificates of Honor and Acknowledgments from the Ministries of Agriculture of the USSR and the Ukrainian SSR, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and other republican and regional state bodies of Ukraine.
