Directions of scientific activity

- Creation of a highly productive herd of pigs of domestic breeds by methods of intrabreed selection (new factory types, lines, families) and improvement of productive characteristics of existing breeds.

- Studying ways to preserve local and endangered pig breeds to ensure genetic biodiversity.

- Study of patterns of formation of productive characteristics of pigs depending on breeding methods, intensity of growth and adaptability.

- Development of local pig hybridization systems using improved breeding techniques with the participation of domestically bred pigs.

- Study of the influence of genotypic and paratypic factors on productive characteristics of pigs.

- Development of a methodology for the use of DNA markers associated with the level of manifestation of productivity signs of domestic meat breeds of pigs.

 

Scientific achievements

- A modern breeding system in pig breeding has been developed.

- An assessment of the breeding value of pigs by the BLAP method is proposed.

- Recommendations have been developed for the use of terminal boars of foreign breeding with high growth intensity to improve the fattening and meat qualities of pigs of Ukrainian breeding.

- An improved method of assessing the quality of sperm of breeding boars based on dehydrogenase activity is proposed.

- A selection index for comprehensive evaluation of the fattening and meat qualities of young pigs was developed, which ensures the determination of optimal combinations of genotypes with the effect of heterosis from 11.53 to 23.66%.

- It is proposed to determine the assessment of the stress sensitivity of pigs by the method of modeling the local adaptation syndrome.

- Rational pig hybridization schemes for basic farms have been developed.

- Conducting the educational and scientific process of training applicants for higher education with the degree of doctor of philosophy.

- For the period 2017-2021. laboratory employees defended 3 theses: 2 candidate and 1 doctoral.
