NOZDRIN MYKOLA TERENTIYOVYCH 

(09/26/1935 – 10/24/2007)

Born on September 26, 1935 in Poltava into a family of workers. In 1959 he graduated from the Poltava Agricultural Institute. From 1959 to 1962 he worked as the chief zootechnician of the state farm in the Mykolaiv region.

In 1962–1965 he studied at the Poltava Research Institute of Pig Breeding in the specialty "Farm Animal Feeding and Feed Technology" under the scientific supervision of Professor M. A. Kovalenko.

In 1966, after defending his PhD thesis "The Influence of Rations of Different Composition on the Generative Function of the Ovaries and the Productivity of Sows" at the Special Council of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy, he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Agricultural Sciences. In 1972, he was awarded the title of Senior Research Fellow.

In 1982, he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Theoretical principles and practical aspects of pig feeding for maximum productivity."

After completing his postgraduate studies, Mykola Terentiyovych worked as a senior researcher in the livestock department of the Vinnytsia State Agricultural Research Station from 1965 to 1968, and since 1968 - in the feeding department of the Poltava Research Institute of Pig Breeding, since 1983 - he was the head of the laboratory of metabolism and energy in pigs.

3 In 1989, M. T. Nozdrin fruitfully worked at the Poltava Agricultural Institute in pedagogical work as a professor and head of the Department of Industrial Pig Breeding Technology.

Over the years of scientific and pedagogical activity, the scientist made a significant contribution to domestic industry science in the study of metabolism and energy in pigs, development of rational and effective formulations of compound feeds for pigs, study of the manifestation of maximum productivity in pigs, development of detailed feeding standards for different age and production groups of pigs.

Published over 160 scientific papers, including 14 co-authored books, 24 methodological recommendations on feeding and raising pigs.

Under his scientific supervision, 7 candidate dissertations and 67 diploma theses were defended. With his direct participation, 600 zooengineering specialists were trained in the stationary department and 450 in the correspondence department.

M. T. Nozdrin – was a member of specialized councils for the defense of candidate and doctoral dissertations at the Institute of Pig Breeding of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and the National Agrarian University.

The scientist had two copyright certificates for inventions and 10 proposals for proposals. For his services in the development of agricultural science and the introduction of achievements into production, M. T. Nozdrin was awarded the honorary title of Honored Zootechnician of the Ukrainian SSR.
